Be Refined

It was candlelight and breakfast today with God for Day 6 of DWG.

My takeaway from today is BE REFINED. Proverbs 30:5 says:

“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him."

Different translations replace flawless with pure, true and tested. The Hebrew word used for flawless is tsaw-raf, a verb which means purify, test, refine.

I love that these words define what the Word does in us. When the Word dwells richly in us, it is like a goldsmith purifying, testing and refining us so that we become more of who God created us to be and we become more a reflection of Jesus.

And just as God is our shield, the Word also becomes our shield because when we absorb it, live it and let it change us, it covers us and we're not so easily entangled in sin.

And now for some random thoughts.... The Word is eternal and enduring, standing firm forever. Jesus is the Word. God's promises are His word to us. The entire Bible is the Word of God.

Jesus, God's promises and the Bible are eternal, enduring and firm. Their purposes can't be thwarted. The truth of God's message is clear and unchanging. Nothing we can do will change this truth. It's a truth that gives life and it's a truth that is changing lives!
